We’ll start with winter months. For a minute, put yourself in a buyer’s shoes. If you had the whole year to choose from, would you choose to house shop in the colder, wetter, winter months? Probably not. Therefore, those who are purchasing in the winter are motivated buyers who want to make an offer.

The truth is that while you have fewer buyers, it’s not a bad thing. You’ll have fewer property tours and open houses. However, those who take the time and effort to look at homes in the winter are motivated – some even thinking they might be getting a bargain. However, you can use that to your advantage.

Less Inventory – Less Competition

With fewer homes on the market, winter months offer less competition for buyers. What this means is more visibility. This amounts to more interest than you will have in the early spring when the market is flooded with listings.

Additionally, consider that your own agent doesn’t have as many buyers and sellers.  How does that benefit you? They have more time to spend with you. You both benefit.

Hard as it may be to believe, current data says that homes sell faster in the winter. Why?
