You get a chance to evaluate what you really need and what you’ve hung onto for no good reason.
Rightsizing Your Sun City Center Home
While you may already have an idea of what you will and what you won’t need, here’s a few questions to ask yourself to determine what must stay and what must go.
Will it be right for the weather where I’m moving? Are you going from an area with severe weather and headed for a sunny location? Ask yourself what needs to go because you simply won’t need it.
Does it fit my lifestyle? In a city high-rise your massive outdoor grill will be out of place. This could even hold true with your recreational vehicle or second car.
What will it cost to move? If it will cost more to move it than to replace it, consider selling or donating it.
Do you use it? If it’s been in storage for six months or a year, do you really want to move it to another place.
Will it be out of place? Your old furnishings may seem tacky or trashy in your new house. Try to envision it in your new house, and if it’ll be out of place, you can do without it.
Now that you know what needs to go, simply “sell,” “donate,” or “ditch” the item. If you plan to sell it, think about whether you have enough time left before the move to sell it. If you don’t have enough time, gift it, donate it to charity, or dump it.
