Some things are easy to figure out when selling a home. Like finding the right agent, keeping the house clean and ready to show, and the benefits of curb appeal. However, there may be other things you never thought of when selling a home. At first glance, they might seem overly simplistic, yet they can make a difference.
Price it Right
It’s understandable; you want to get the most you can to purchase your next home. At the same time, if you keep the listing price higher than your competition, it will stay on the market longer than others will. When a price is lowered to reflect the market, the viewing statistics start to climb on websites like Zillow, Trulia, and Realtor.com. So, it’s important not to minimize this tip.
Clean the Closets
It’s common for buyers to be looking for more storage – and not necessarily in the garage. So, clear your closets of what you can and organize what’s left. This goes for any cabinetry in the house. A cluttered closet or cabinet looks much smaller than they really are.
Remove the You Factor
This tip can’t be ignored. If you don’t remove personal items, the buyer can’t see themselves living there. So, plan to store any personal items like photos, mementos, and collections. Ideally, the more you can put in storage – the better. Keep it simple; this is what a home stager would do.
We Love Those Animals
It’s true – we love our animals, but not all buyers feel the same way. They might not want to pick up your little dog and hug them. If they’re allergic, they’ll have a bad taste in their mouth the minute they see the animal. So, keep them out of sight. Besides, it’s safer and less stressful on the animal.
Finally, as mentioned earlier, keeping the house tidy and ready to show is more important than you may know. You don’t want to put off potential buyers the minute they step into the house.
